downtown life

Downtown Spokane is vibrant and energetic. The Inland Northwest Center for Writers, which is in the heart of downtown, is not only close to the main student residential area of Spokane, but is also tightly knit into the arts community.

Most students in the MFA program live in Brown's Addition, a residential area less than seven blocks from the center of downtown. Public transportation, which is usually free for students, is also very efficient.

All in all, Spokane is a great city to live in. It has all the major amenities usually found in the largest metro areas without all the congestive traffic, crowded plazas, or crime. Concerts, Broadway shows, plays, and the annual Get Lit! Literary Festival are many of the events that happen downtown.
